Bazaar’che
Bazaar’che brings together students and educators from Prague, Paris, Vienna, and Košice in an international project based on collaboration, the exchange of experience, and collective artistic practice across geographical and cultural boundaries. The title refers to a “small bazaar” as a space of encounter and exchange, and several months of collaborative work will culminate in October 2026 in an exhibition at Galerie AVU, where artworks, ideas, and working methods developed between remote collaboration and in-person encounters will come together.

Bazaar’che is an international art project bringing together students and educators from the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, Beaux-Arts de Paris, the University of Applied Arts Vienna, and the Faculty of Arts at the Technical university in Košice. Developed within the Erasmus+ BIP programme, it creates a space for collaboration, the exchange of experience, and collective artistic practice across different geographical, cultural, and artistic contexts.
The project begins several months before the participants meet in person in Prague. Over the summer, students share fragments of their current interests, visual references, questions, and working intuitions, gradually forming smaller international groups. In October, the remote collaboration moves to Prague, which becomes the site of an in-person encounter and the collective realization of the emerging projects. What has until then been developing across several European cities comes together here in a single physical space.
The project also works with the limitations inherent in international collaboration and exhibition production. The lack of capacity to transport large-scale artworks encourages the exploration of other forms of artistic production: works may be conceived as lightweight and easily transportable objects, as plans or scores to be realized only in Prague, or as projects developed with the assistance of the local team. Practical constraints thus become part of the creative process and influence the very form of the works that emerge.
The title Bazaar’che derives from the Persian word bāzārče, meaning “small bazaar” or “small marketplace.” In the context of the project, it refers to a temporary space of encounter and exchange in which not only objects circulate, but also ideas, experiences, working methods, images, and different perspectives. The bazaar functions here as a metaphor for a situation in which everyone brings something of their own while at the same time responding to what others bring. Exchange thus becomes not only the movement of things, but also a process of mutual influence, negotiation, and transformation.
Several months of international collaboration will culminate in the Bazaar’che exhibition at Galerie AVU, Veletržní 63, Prague. The opening will take place on 15 October 2026 at 6 PM, and the exhibition will run until 14 November 2026. For a time, the gallery will become a small marketplace of artistic approaches—a place where remote contact turns into physical encounter and where objects, gestures, experiences, ideas, and different ways of seeing circulate between participants and audiences.
