MgA. Jana Bernartová, Ph.D.

The visual artist Jana Bernartová went through several "media" studios during her studies. She began her higher education at the Faculty of Art and Architecture of the Technical University of Liberec in the studio of Visual Communication – Digital Media by Stanislav Zippe. She completed her master’s studies in the intermedia studio of Václav Stratil at the Brno Faculty of Arts, and her doctorate in the Supermedia studio of Federico Díaz at the Prague UMPRUM. In many ways, her work at the University of Liberec was already defining for her, providing her with a background for working with the most modern technologies, knowledge of their possibilities and limits. It is the error in the digital image, the tension between the virtual world and the lived reality, between data and their material outputs that represent the key themes of her work to date.Jana Bernartová enters the world of contemporary art not only as an artist, but also as a teacher and curator. Since 2016 she has been organizing the international festival Art Week Liberec. On behalf of the Academy of Fine Arts, she leads the inter-university art-research project Creative Software/Digital Neural Network – Virtual Futurology A°D°A, which prepares a specialized AI tool for artists and architects.
