Vít Havránek is an art historian and curator interested in the history of post-war neo-avant-garde art, contemporary art and critical studies. Since 2019 he has been working as the Vice-Rector for Cooperation and International Activities at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague.

From 2002-2019, he served as the director of tranzit.cz, a platform that is part of a network of organizations operating in five Central and Eastern European countries. He was external editor of the publishing house JRP Ringier, curator and co-curator of exhibitions of various sizes on different continents, including In the Matter of Art, Prague, U3 Triennial Ljubljana, Jakarta Biennial 2017, Manifesta 8, etc. He has lectured at universities in the Czech Republic and as a guest lecturer at universities in the United States and Europe. He was and is a member of many international commissions, such as Igor Zabel Award, Furla Art Award, Kunsthalle Wien Prize, Strabag Art Award, Jindřich Chalupecký Award. Co-founder of the group Pas. His articles have been published in books and catalogues by JRP Ringier, Centre Pompidou, MoMA, MIT Press and Sternberg Press, among others.
