Dirk Somers / Bovenbouw: Mostly Castles and Container Parks

In his first lecture in Prague, Dirk Somers will present a cross-section of the studio's work with an emphasis on buildings for education and buildings for recycling.

Date: 6 December 2024
Location: AVU Veletržní, Veletržní 826/61

“The lecture will guide you through a heterogeneous series of projects that are developed by associative thinking. Historical precedents mix up with everyday references, generating designs that aspire a densely layered and surprising character." (Dirk Somers)

Dirk Somers

Dirk Somers founded Bovenbouw Architectuur in 2011, which soon achieved an international reputation. A broad repertoire of public buildings, a playful aesthetic and an emphasis on sustainability make the studio one of the most distinctive among progressive Belgian studios. Dirk Somers also teaches at TU Delft and is a professor at Ghent Technical University, and regularly publishes in the print media.

The lecture will be in English.
