Filling Compounds for Losses in the Paint and Ground Layers of Paintings on Textile Supports

This publication provides a comprehensive overview of fillers designed to repair defects in the color and undercoat layers of paintings on a textile support. The publication is based on detailed research into materials, techniques, application methods, and the structure of fillers. The range of fillers examined offers the possibility of selecting a suitable material for the specific nature, extent of damage, and challenges of the artwork being restored, taking into account the intended presentation of the work. The materials were included in the publication based on an investigation of current approaches in the European and American fields of conservation, with special attention to the historical context of the use and selection of fillers in Central Europe.
