Anton Vidokle, on the concept of the exhibition: "In 1966, during the Vietnam war, a group of American artists in Los Angeles, including Mark di Suvero, Lloyd Hamrol, Mel Edwards, Ed Bereal, Judy Chicago, and others, built a large tower surrounded by a wall of numerous square panels painted by artists from around the world. They called it the Peace Tower and the goal was to draw attention to and protest the war, and to construct a symbol for peace. Forty years later, the artist Rirkrit Tiravanija, recreated this tower at the Whitney museum in New York during the war in Iraq. Our tower at the Saloun Studio is an exhibition as well as a fundraising benefit: selected artworks installed on and around the tower can be purchased and the proceeds will go to the organisation Musicians/Artists defend Ukraine. https://https://shpytal.com/musicians-defend-ukraine"
As part of the opening, performance Bread Against Imperialism of Darja Lukjanenko will also take place. From 8 pm you can take part in the screening of the short film Basics of the Sun's work by Jakub Šťourač and Anna Luňáková at the Pilots Cinema.
