Milan Mikuláštík is a visual artist, curator, publicist and educator. He studied at FaVU BUT in the studio of conceptual art of Peter Rónai (1994–1996), then from 1996 at AVU (Intermedia Studio of M. Knížák, Visual Communication Studio of J. David and New Media Studio of M. Bielický), from which he graduated in 2002.
In his artistic work, Milan Mikuláštík mainly uses the media of installation and ready-made, video, photography, but also classical painting. An important theme of his work is artistic collaboration with other artists – since 1995 he has occasionally worked together with Jan Nálevka in the tandem MINA. Later he also collaborated with other artists – David Adamec, Vilém Kabzan, Michal Panoch. In 2003 he was a founding member of the art-activist group Guma Guar. Milan Mikuláštík has exhibited in many joint exhibitions in the Czech Republic (National Gallery in Prague, GHMP, DOX, NoD, House of the Lords of Kunštát in Brno and others) and abroad (Slovakia, Sweden, Switzerland, USA, Belgium, Great Britain and others).
He has had numerous solo exhibitions in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
From 2008 to 2009 he worked as a curator at the NoD gallery in Prague. From 2009 to the present day he has been curator of the NTK Gallery and the entire exhibition programme of the National Technical Library in Prague, where he focuses on the interconnection of science, technology, architecture and art. As a curator, he has also prepared a number of exhibitions for other gallery institutions in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany and Belgium.
From 2014 to 2018 he worked at UMPRUM as an assistant professor in the Supermedia studio. He still works as an external lecturer in the Visual Arts programme at UMPRUM, where he lectures on Prague architecture to foreign students.
