Can music age? Has the overproduction of background sounds so desensitized our ears that they have lost the ability to recognize music? Will we resign ourselves to listening to “music” composed for us by advanced systems? Is there such a thing as an aural landscape beyond silence?

These and similar questions are addressed by the manifesto Music Is Obsolete and by the associated collective sound-art exhibition. Working in the spirit of this manifesto, the art (not just sound art) presented at the exhibition loosely comments on changes in musical thinking.
