Old Dreams Waiting to Be Realized

If ‘life’ in modernity is movement, then the logic of ownership and assembly line is the force, by power of which the dissected movements are reanimated into living, dancing, monstrous commodity form.

At the emergence of the cinematic mode of production, working bodies were dissected, labour divided into separated gestures through methods for analyzing, capturing and disciplining movement.

Is the Frankensteinian dream – reanimation of life, industrialization of death – long gone bourgeois nightmare or is it still a dream that kicks?

The exhibition “Old Dreams Waiting to Be Realized” asks if the ghosts of abstracted and aestheticised work, powered by an undisputed vision of efficiency and progress, still haunt us today?
