OPEN CALL – Exhibition Projects for 2026 at GAVU (AVU Gallery)
The Academy of Fine Arts in Prague announces an open call for exhibition projects for the AVU Gallery (GAVU) scheduled to be realised in 2026.
Since autumn 2024, the AVU Gallery has been located in new premises on Veletržní Street 61 as part of the AVU Veletržní building. The gallery showcases contemporary work by AVU students, alumni and teachers curated into exhibitions and accompanied by diverse programmes. Exhibitions are also regularly organised in collaboration with art schools from abroad. An open call for exhibition projects is announced every year. Projects are selected by the Exhibition Committee, which is elected for a two-year term. GAVU strives to present current approaches and themes in contemporary art in a broader context and within its operations. Since 2024, GAVU has been running a screening programme called GAVU Cinema, featuring moving image art, at the AVU premises in Veletržní Street.
This year’s open call invites proposals for exhibition projects to be held in the new premises on Veletržní Street, between February and December 2026. Applications must be submitted by 12 September 2025.
The call is open to all members of the AVU academic community and the AVU ALUMNI club. Proposals may include solo, group and studio exhibitions, experimental formats and curatorial projects. The Exhibition Committee will select a total of five projects from all submissions.
Results will be announced no later than 13 October 2025 on the AVU website and social media channels. Authors of the selected projects will be contacted.

A materials budget totalling CZK 18,000 per exhibition
Artists’ fees for exhibitors totalling CZK 18,000 per exhibition
A curator’s fee of CZK 9,000
