OPEN CALL – Exhibition Projects for 2027 at Galerie AVU

Since autumn 2024, Galerie AVU has been located in the premises on Veletržní 63 as part of the AVU Veletržní building. The gallery showcases contemporary work by AVU students, alumni and teachers curated into exhibitions and accompanied by diverse programmes. Exhibitions are also regularly organised in collaboration with art schools from abroad. An open call for exhibition projects is announced every year. Projects are selected by the Exhibition Committee, which is elected for a two-year term. The gallery strives to present current approaches and themes in contemporary art in a broader context and within its operations. Since 2024, it has been running a screening programme called Kino GAVU (GAVU Cinema), featuring moving image art, at the AVU premises on Veletržní Street.

This year’s open call invites proposals for exhibition projects to be held in the new premises on Veletržní Street, between January and December 2027. Applications must be submitted by 7 June 2026.

The call is open to all members of the AVU academic community and the Alumni AVU Club. Proposals may include solo, group and studio exhibitions, experimental formats and curatorial projects. A key requirement is a connection to the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague for at least one of the participants. The Exhibition Committee will select a total of five projects from all submissions. Results will be announced no later than 30 June 2026 on the AVU website and social media channels. Authors of the selected projects will be contacted.
