The doctoral research, entitled Normalization Sculpture in Czechoslovakia, focuses on the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, which, as the most prestigious art school in the country, was supposed to produce so-called official artists willing and able to create in the spirit of socialist art. During the period under review, the Academy was supervised by the teachers Miloš Axman, Jiří Bradáček, Jan Hána, Karel Kolumek, Jiří Kryštůfek, Karel Lidický, Antonín Nykl and Vlastimil Večeřa. The research wants to focus more closely on these particular figures of power, on their pedagogical activities, but above all on their overall functioning within the artistic operation. There, all of the aforementioned had a privileged position thanks to their positions in the party and union cultural structures. Through research, the thesis attempts to revise the existing way of looking at the stigmatized normalization of artistic production, which has not been transformed since the 1990s, also due to the absence of research interest.
