Painting & Poetry: On Feline Pedagogy is a research project exploring the intersections of collective artistic practices, prophetic study within art education, (un)learning, and reading. Reading—both individual and collective—is understood here as a somatic event at the threshold between the private and the common, a (po)ethical transversal act with the potential for decreation, which opens space for artistic work and a deeper embodied experience of study. It proceeds from an understanding of study as an ongoing, never-ending practice and traces how shared reading re-evaluates, rewrites, and regenerates not only institutions but also relations and group dynamics. The project frames the notion of feline pedagogy, the practice of reading aloud, and a spatial approach to study through the “corridors of extimacy,” where attention is collectively attuned.

From feminist and queer perspectives, it examines how collective, reparative approaches, creative processes, and (po)ethical strategies can enter art education—anti-strategically. At its centre are art installations as sites for performative readings with the björnsonova platform (Good Night Readers), which articulate the texxture of reading (body, voice, and space), the long-term seminar class Painting & Poetry, and readers/anthologies of texts and collective practices. The project asks to what extent the organising of reading can function as a “magical” act of collective self-organisation and transformative (feline) pedagogy; how the extimacy of reading is conducive to (un)learning and rearranges relations and institutions; and what role situations of reading—together and aloud—play as experimental, commodious spaces of study.
