In her artistic documentation, Kristina Láníková artistically processes her experience with long-term use of psychotropic drugs and their withdrawal. The book contains preparatory sketches, photographs of objects, a series of handwritten ‘apologies’ and assemblages. The individual series deliberately work with a limited number of motifs and materials – combining the outlines of plasters or medicine packaging, scraps of skin, imprints of medicine blister packs, small medical and office supplies, and sticky notes. The author methodically explores a theme that is often considered intimate, giving it an economical, repetitive, almost coded expression. She thus removes the vulnerability to which it relates from the personal sphere and presents it as a common limitation.

Kristina Láníková (*1988) is a visual artist and poet. She studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. She has exhibited solo and in groups, including at the Kurzor Gallery, the sam83 Gallery, the Prague City Gallery, the Brno House of Arts, and GAVU / AVU Gallery. She has published the collections Pomlčka v těle (Dash in the Body, 2015), Krátké dějiny zraňování (A Brief History of Wounding, 2017), Úvahy nad zájmeny (Reflections on Pronouns, 2020) and Puma M (2023). She occasionally publishes in A2 – kulturní čtrnáctideník (A2 – Cultural Fortnightly).
