Vjera Borozan is an art historian, educator and curator. She studied History and Theory of Art at Charles University, where she received her PhD in 2011. From 2011 to 2019 she was the director of the internet platform for contemporary art Artyčok TV. Since 2019 she has been teaching contemporary and 19th century art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. Previously, she worked at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Brno University of Technology and the Academy of Arts Architecture and Design in Prague. She was the Director of the National Museum in Montenegro (2017–2018) and a long-term collaborator of the contemporary art initiative tranzit.cz (2005–2011). In her teaching practice, she prefers the "learning community" methodology to standard frontal teaching. She continuously reflects on the concept of teaching art history and adapts and transforms it according to the needs. Lectures on the "long nineteenth century" are based on a common reading of contemporary texts and a deeper reflection on the various ways of interpreting selected works. An integral part of this is the constant stress-testing of the existing canon. The seminar format creates space for experimentation with the possibilities of participatory syllabi. Based on a set theoretical framework and selected texts, she leads effective structured discussions on the chosen topic.
