MgA. Roman Štětina, Ph.D.

| Workplace: | Intermedia 2 |
Roman Štětina’s work is characterised by his work with archival materials and their re-editing, as can be seen in the video The Lost Case, for which he received the Jindřich Chalupecký Award in 2014. More than the image, however, he focuses on sound, the technical attributes of its recording and the environment of the institution of radio, which he addresses through studio recordings of the spoken word, installations and, ultimately, videos. Radio and the spoken word is closely related to the subject of his artistic research, which is entitled Observation and its description and is concerned with the form and occurrence of ekphrasis within academic practice. He is a graduate of UUD in Pilsen (studio of Michal Pěchouček) and AVU in Prague (studio of Tomáš Vaňek). In 2013–2015 he studied at the Städelschule in Frankfurt in the studios of Judith Hopf and Douglas Gordon. Since 2016 he has been working as an assistant in the Intermedia 2 studio (school of Dušan Zahoranský and Pavla Sceranková at AVU).www.romanstetina.com
