Modern Gallery

The Modern Gallery building on the edge of Stromovka Park, designed by Antonín Wiehl for the 1891 National Jubilee Exhibition, has been in permanent use by the Academy of Fine Arts since 1945 and today houses the printmaking and restoration studios. Thanks to the refurbishment and the addition of an underground extension in 2004, the academy gained modern facilities. Furthermore, the atrium continues to be used for teaching life drawing from a live model, traditionally a compulsory subject at the AVU.
